Tutorial {pom pom flowers}

****LET ME START BY SAYING I DID NOT MAKE THIS UP****
I can't remember where I saw pom pom flowers first - but I had always wanted to make them. I got a little addicted to making these pom poms after buying a pom pom maker. I made them all, then just looked at the pretty little things and thought "what I am I going to do with these?" So I remember seeing pom pom flowers once and thought I would try it for myself.
So here goes my first tutorial - hope you enjoy it!
Items needed:
1. Clover Pom Pom Maker found at any craft store such as Joanns, Michaels or Hobby Lobby
2. any yarn, any color - your choice
3. your trusty glue gun
4. sticks of your choice
I chose bamboo rods that I happened to already have in my house

Step By Step
1. Make all your pom poms first -
here is a great online tutorial for making pom poms with the Clover Pom Pom Maker
I made several different sizes - many different colors.
2. Dab your hot glue on the tip of the stick and gently place the pom pom onto the stick
(make sure the stick goes to the center of the pom pom).
Hold in place for a few seconds so you can make sure it is attached.
3. Repeat for all pom poms
4. After all pom poms are attached arrange your pom pom flowers in your favorite vase.
I broke the sticks to different lengths -
but honestly you can arrange then however it makes you happy.
Hope you have fun with this - I would love to see your arrangements - so email me at tobi@iveyhandcrafted.com with photos!

Project 52 {weektwo}

This week's photo is of these gorgeous yarn balls. I made these along with my sweet friend Amy this past sunday at our craft day. I have always seen these and always wanted to try.....but thought I wouldn't have the patience. But thanks to Amy I learned something new. So of course I came home and took pics of my new favorites :) I love taking pics all week then deciding which photos works best for Project 52. This is going to be a great journey. xoxo

Snow Day Bliss

we had snow, beautiful glorious snow....and it makes me happy. My hubby made soup, I made snow cream, we walked around our neighborhood and gave our dogs many a warm bath to melt the snow off their hair. I would count these last two days as some of the best....hope everyone else had wonderful snow days.

this photo came out super tiny on here - but click on it - found an awesome new feature on my phone that does panoramic photos.
This is a gorgeous view from our front yard.
This picture makes me swoon.
my home & my hubby in snow - winter bliss.
Needed to cover up the ugly stuff that goes on the shelves, so I made some little "curtains" for my shelves. What better use for overflow fabric then to make curtains.
vintage fabric & sewing machine = happy new curtains
I threw this vintage bedspread up on my window in my studio, posted a pic on facebook and got TONS of compliments on it - so I finished them and they are brand new curtains behind my workspace.

So there were my snow day projects.....broke two needles, pricked my finger with the needle - but it was worth it :)

Tomorrow it's back to the real world, it will be great to get out of the house and see this beautiful world around me.

Project 52 {weekone}

Introducing a new challenge I am giving myself. I was very happy to see this on my twitter friend's blog: The Curious Pug. Her original idea was to take a photo of your week, once a week for the whole year and post it for the world to see. So here goes....here is my first week:
Week One is a view in my studio - there might be a lot of these - I have been working hard to get my studio just right. This is the wall behind my desk. Some of my fave pics are on this wall including this one of my hubby and I by Moncrief Photography. There is a letterpress poster with "toby" on it - yeah I know it isn't spelled right, but I had to have it. And lastly an awesome piece by one of my best friends Beth Gumnick. This photo was taken with my phone, and more than likely most of my choices will be. xoxo
